Info about Tommy Cash
American singer, guitarist, and songwriter (born April 5, 1940 in Dyess, Arkansas - died September 13, 2024). He was the youngest of four sons and three daughters of Ray and Carrie (Rivers) Cash, and born eight years after his brother, [a135946]. He formed his first band in high school. After high school graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was a disc jockey with the American Forces Radio Network.
After leaving the Army, Cash played with [a263935], and later gained a record deal from [l18948] in 1965. A year later, he joined [l4898] and just missed the Country Top 40 in 1968 with “The Sounds of Goodbye.”
In late 1969, while on [l61835], he delivered his biggest hit, a tune dedicated to [a441676], [a2132190] and [a465585], entitled, "[m=1221738].” 1970 saw a pair of Top Ten singles, “One Song Away” and "Rise and Shine", written by [a251877]. Cash's final Top 20 hit, “I Recall a Gypsy Woman,” was released in 1973.
