Info about The Dirty Secrets
Alternative / Indie electronic New Wave band from Perth, Western Australia.
Formed 2006-2012, originally named [a=Phils Finest Hour]/Phil's Finest Hour from 2001-2006, renamed as The Dirty Secrets (along with a change of sound & the addition of a guitarist).
The Dirty Secrets originated from the South West corner of Western Australia, but relocated in Perth where they cut their teeth playing shows under various monikers like "The Howling Youth" (a name change was needed due to the emergence of Sydney band "The Howling Bells") or "Phil's Finest Hour". Influenced by bands such as Iggy Pop and the Stooges, Atomic Swing and Bowie, The Dirty Secrets used a mix of rhodes, fat synths, distorted bass and rhythmic guitar to create their new wave signature sound. They played on main stage of The Perth Big Day Out and Southbound Festivals alongside Wolfmother, Bodyjar, LittleBirdy, The Thrills, Veruca Salt and The Panda Band, along with extensive state tours and other shows. Their first eponymous album produced by [a=Nick Terry] (Klaxons, The Liberteens, Ian Brown, Franz Ferdinand) & [a=Alan Brey] (Dakota Star, US band Lumiis) was released in 2008. Founding member Woody Taylor (drums) departed the band in 2008 & was replaced by Chedder. The group disbanded in 2012.
Legacy Lineup: Jarrah McCleary - Keys/Vox, Woody Taylor - Drums, Warren "Waz" Page - Bass/Vox, Mike Sanders - Guitars
Past members: Glenn Sarangapang (from Dyslexic Fish) - additional live member (keyboardist, vocalist), Woody Taylor - Drums (replaced by Chedder)
