UK singer-songwriter Jasmine Van den Bogaerde, better known by her professional name Birdy was born on 15th May, 1996.
Her mother was a concert pianist, whose influence shone through on her early career. Birdy’s maternal grandfather was Baron Teynham.
After she won the Under 18s category of the UK talent contest Open Mic UK at the age of 12, she released a haunting cover version of the Bon Iver's "Skinny Love"
Her self-titled debut album, "Birdy" (2011) featured Skinny Love, 1901 and People Help The People.
She has since gone on to release four more albums, including her 2023 release Portraits, which saw a more raunchier sound, featuring the very Kate Bush influence "Raincatchers"
Her debut still remains her biggest seller and most popular amongst fans.
